The Gibson Hotel today gave an innovative and colourful welcome to visiting French rugby fans travelling to Dublin for the Heineken Cup Final this weekend.

The landmark hotel, located at the Point Village, has encased its iconic lifts in the colours of Toulon and Clermont Auvergne in advance of kick-off on Saturday.

And already social media in France has followed up on the move. A number of French rugby stars from both clubs have tweeted pictures of the outside lifts which provide panoramic views across Dublin.

Gibson Hotel General Manager, Adrian McLaughlin, declared: “We have a lot of fans from both clubs booked into the hotel for the weekend. We thought what better way to welcome them than by branding the lifts in the colours of the two clubs. And so far the reaction has been great. Clermont fullback and Welsh wizard Lee Byrne has tweeted the picture to his 36,000 followers and others have followed suit.”

“This is the first time we have branded our lifts. But judging by the reaction at home and abroad, it won’t be the last,” Adrian added.
